The Lion King at Minskoff Theatre

Disney’s The Lion King follows the fate of the little lion cub Simba, who before his time must suddenly face his destiny of succeeding as the King of the Pride Lands due to unjust killing of his father, Mufasa. Mufasa, who is a supported King by the animals of the Pride Lands, faces immense jealousy from Scar, Simba’s uncle, which leads to his death. This forces the young prince into to escape for years, and where the Prince's long journey and his subsequent homecoming to The Pride Lands and his rightful place as King.

Inspired by the late 1994 film of the the very same name produced by Disney, The Lion King musical was beautifully adapted to the Broadway medium by director Julie Taymor and the amazing ensemble and creative team. Its premiere in the 90s was the first of its kind, being received positively by critics.
